When you Audit an Outlier course, it simply means you’re taking the course without the expectation of earning credits or impacting your college transcript. You will not receive a grade, a transcript, or college-credit, and will not be participating in exams.
When you choose to Audit a course, you will receive lifetime access to:
- Cinema-quality video lectures with engaging instructors from schools like Yale, NYU, Cornell, and MIT.
- An immersive digital experience with interactive learning sets.
- Problem sets, practice exercises, and practice terms to help you master the material.
Auditing will also give you access to our Student Success team to ensure you're receiving the support you need to reach your learning goals. However, you will not have access to midterms and final exams.

Purchasing an Audit Course
Prospective Students
From the Outlier.org website, select the course you are interested in, and select AUDIT (No credit, unlimited access) at checkout.
Current Students
From the Student Dashboard, navigate to Menu > Catalog and select the course you’d like to Audit. On the page that follows, select Type: Audit (Ungraded). After choosing your desired duration and start date, click Add Course.
Switch from For-Credit to Audit
If you purchase a course for credit, but later decide you'd prefer to audit the course, you may update your enrollment in one of two ways:
- For courses purchased BEFORE April 11, 2022: Submit an Audit Form (must be logged in to your Student Dashboard to access)
- For courses purchased AFTER April 11, 2022: Navigate to Account > Course Management to submit an audit form
Note: Audit Forms must be submitted BEFORE the course drop deadline, or you will be entered into the course as a credit-seeking student.
Does not apply to Florida Polytechnic University or other partner institutions. Please refer to your course syllabus for details.
